Edge Server with Multi-Cloud solution
The edge server with multi-cloud configuration is ideal for OEMs with a large, distributed installation base across multiple facilities, supporting medium-frequency data acquisition.
Individual Edge Servers cover multiple machines in a plant, containing the microservices dedicated to data acquisition and processing. Data is also locally buffered on the server to ensure there is no data loss in case of an internet connection outage.
There are two cloud layers:
The customer-owned cloud layer, where authentication services and data storage as SAS services are present. The specifics of these services depend on the cloud provider chosen by the customer.
The 40Factory-owned cloud layer, where the Back-end and Front-end microservices of the application are present, periodically updated by 40Factory.
This system is less efficient in terms of data sampling speed and resilient to internet outages but not resilient to network issues within the plant. It offers the advantage of an application that is always accessible from anywhere.
During the installation phase, MAT Control Center is used for the configuration installation on the individual Edge Servers. Installation can be automated via an internet connection by leveraging the Portainer service, installed as a Docker service on the edges (agent) that communicate with the Portainer instance of 40Factory in the Cloud for installation and updates.
